DAMIÁN S. RODRÍGUEZ. “I was born via forceps on 12 December 1984—a hook-based technique using what look like two massive salad spoons that the doctor uses to guide the baby’s head out. It’s a practice banned nowadays due to the risks it poses to both mother and child. I didn’t want to leave, and I emerged with a broken collarbone; perhaps that event shaped my resistant nature and my reluctance to leave warm, cosy places. I’m a Sagittarius and slightly dyslexic—though you won’t notice it here, as spellcheck lends a hand. I’m also left-handed: I kick, grab, paint, and film, all with that side of my body. Born in Uruguay, which to ‘everyone’ means being Argentine until proven otherwise. I am based in Barcelona, but I’ve lived in Lima and Buenos Aires. I like moving and starting afresh.I take photos, film people doing things, play ‘myself’, and paint weird faces on scavenged surfaces. I’m interested in plastic experimentation within each discipline, probing their possibilities. With Lerulerufilms I use a camera, and with Rumián, a paintbrush. I am this bundle of intentions, split into sections.”
